Send Your Ideas to the PTO

The Westview PTO is committed to ensuring that parents, teachers, and families feel appreciated and heard, and in turn have a more connected community within the school.

If you have an idea for improvements or just a question, you can drop an anonymous suggestion card in the jar at the front of the school or email  evymahoney@gmail.com. They will be replied to on the bulletin board in the main hallway, and also in the newsletter.
The latest from the boards:
1. Have an extra pajama day: You got it! An extra pajama day was added to spirit week in October. BoxTops will reward classes with a pajama day in February.
2.  Leave the A/C on in the gym during the PTO meetings or open doors or run a fan:  Whew, was that last meeting a hot one! Fortunately, the cooler weather outside will help at our next couple of meetings, as the A/C is usually on, but it just gets hot in the gym with so many people. We can also open doors to circulate the air.
3.  During PTO meetings run a power point with all information and agenda.  Time it on a loop slow enough to read: Great Idea! This is being looked in to for the next PTO meeting on Dec. 5.
December 5th.
4.  Allow parents to come in and check on their child and see how things are done in class: School Board policy does not allow for parents to visit the classroom during the instructional day.  We have to observe HIPAA and FERPA laws that are designed to protect children with special needs. Parents in the classroom is a distraction for the children. However, if a parent has a particular concern, Mrs. Williams is very willing to work with them in any way she can to accommodate their needs. The parent must have a purpose for wanting to be in the classroom and they must meet with Mrs. Williams for approval.

5.  Have a school Pep Rally: There will be a Pep Rally before during the Apex Fun Run in this spring!
6.  Fun Activity/ Fundraiser could be a dance or dinner for fathers & daughters and a Luau or party for mothers & sons:  While there are no plans to take on any new fundraisers this year, there will be a meeting next semester for new ideas and idea planning for the 2018-19 school year. So keep great ideas like this coming!
7.  Please get new wash rags for the cafeteria tables:  Done. Thanks, Mrs. Williams!
